Beautiful Inema Arts Center is located in the heart of a residential area of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. Founded in 2012 by brothers and self-taught painters Innocent Nkurunziza and Emmanuel Nkuranga, Inema Arts Center spurs creativity for personal, social, and economic growth.
Inema was created to enrich the untapped potential of art in Rwanda. The center uses personal expression to bring the community and country alive, to provide exposure to fellow artists, creative people, and design opportunities for Rwanda's most underserved by using creativity for a productive livelihood.
Today, Inema Arts Center has become a beacon in Rwandan and global artists for cultivating creative expression. It remains an art colony for aspiring Rwandan artists – paint, sculpture and other art forms.
Inema Arts Center
These artists create and exhibit their works for public view and purchase. The Inema Arts Center also acts as a local meeting place for children and young people to learn about and experience the arts. Inema offers art classes, as well as opportunities for school age children to gather weekly to learn and practice traditional Rwandan dance and drumming.
Yambi Rwanda and Inema have partnered to provide the Art with A Mission program, providing resources dedicated to, for example, educating and empowering young Rwandan boys and girls to express themselves through painting, drawing, and the creative community.
Yambi Rwanda shares the mission and programs of Inema and will gather and disburse funding to Inema in order to assist in its outreach mission to the artists of Rwanda.
