Team Rwanda Cycling was founded in 2006 after some cycling professionals saw amazing raw talent compete in a local race. Today Team Rwanda fields over 30 male and female professional cyclists and embodies the spirit of perseverance and hope which is reflective of the entire country's journey. The riders now race competitively on the international stage and, in so doing, have become high profile ambassadors for Rwanda, with cycling arguably Rwanda's leading national sport. Restoring pride is a vital component in the nation's rehabilitation and Rwandans domestically, and in the diaspora, are proud to see their cycling team now competing, and winning. They also give others, both nations and people in conflict, hope.
Team Rwanda works in collaboration with the Rwandan Cycling Federation (FERWACY) and the Ministry of Sport and Culture (MINISPOC), however the Team is a non-profit organisation and relies heavily on personal donations, merchandise sales and philanthropy in the cycling industry. 100% of all donations and income goes straight to the team to help our work in discovering, nurturing and developing amazing talent.
